The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the Church’s life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her members with his sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the cross to his Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the graces of salvation on his Body which is the Church.
Eucharist and First Communion at St. Thomas More
The celebration of one’s first communion is a never-to-be-forgotten event, and for children at St. Thomas More, is celebrated in the second grade at the completion of two years of preparation. Receiving the Eucharist is the center of our faith and is the second of our three sacraments of initiation. For children not attending a Catholic school, preparation takes place during their religious education classes, so all students not attending a Catholic school should be attending such classes beginning with first grade. For more information on religious education, contact Mr. Michael Fitzpatrick, Director of Religious Education at (508) 679-1236.
First Communion is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the 11:00a.m. Mass.
